1. The reaction product is obtained by reducing roasting of soft manganese ore, and is cooled under conditions that exclude air. Any other manganese oxide can also be obtained by heating in hydrogen. It can also be obtained by heating manganese hydroxide, manganese carbonate, in an air-excluded environment.
2. In the reduction method, soft manganese ore is mixed with coal powder in a mass ratio of 1:0.2, and reduced roasting is carried out at 800°C for 4 hours to produce manganese monoxide. The reaction product is cooled under conditions that exclude air, and then sieved to obtain the finished manganese monoxide. The reaction equation is as follows:
3. The hexahydrate manganese nitrate recrystallized from water is heated in air to 300°C. Once it is confirmed that no more nitrogen dioxide is generated, the remaining solid (equivalent to β-MnO2) is crushed and heated in a hydrogen stream at a temperature not exceeding 1200°C (for example, at 800°C) for 4 hours. This reaction still has a considerable rate even at 450°C. When the heating time is extended or the reduction temperature is increased, the color of the product changes from grass green to light gray. When reducing hydrated oxides, heating at 800°C is sufficient. When using manganese carbonate as the raw material, heating at 500°C under reduced pressure for 48 hours, followed by heating in a hydrogen stream at 1000-1100°C for 15-20 minutes is sufficient.
